Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Diego has officially been on two airplanes, one train and our two automobiles this summer. This trip to Tiny Town completed the trio. Tiny Town is a cute little place in Morrison, Co were a man built more than 50 dollhouses for his granddaughter back in the 1920s. Word spread about the cool houses and later the attraction became a tourist stop for the locals and out-of-state visitors. They also have a cute little train that takes you on a tour of the park. The houses have scenes inside as well (see the Charlie Chaplin movie place in the 1/6 size theater). We are suggested to keep Diego on his toes by taking him to crowded places. His biggest weaknesses are still other dogs and very tiny children. Not to mention low-flying birds, squirrels and rabbits. This outing was helpful to remind him how to act around all the distractions. On a slightly embarrassing, yet amusing note, the conductor that day decided to come running over (literally) to great us and proceeded to dive into petting Diego and telling us about her service dog back in Kona, Hi. As I am trying to correct Diego from melting into her pets, she finally decided to ask if she could pet him. I told her that he was working and that he should be pet at this time. She obliviously continued to chatter on about the doggie-hatred in Kona and how she finally just went on-line and bought him a service vest so she wouldn't get harassed while she had her dog with her in public. I was able to playfully call her out on the petting of Diego. Since her dog was not a true service dog, she didn't realize the rules that come with the responsibility. She blushed, but admitted that she just really missed her dog. As we boarded the train, she proceeded to loudly announce that this was the first service dog that had been on the train. (Where is my invisible power?) Fortunately, we made it out alive.
